Yolande McVey was born in 1966 in Frankfurt, Germany, the daughter of an Army sergeant. Her family eventually moved to Chicago. She began writing at a very early age, a habit that she has carried for a lifetime. She graduated from high school and enrolled in the University of Chicago (Urbana/Champaign campus) at age 16, but left school to marry and start a family at age 20. After her marriage ended, she had the idea to write romance novels, and, at age 40, completed her first manuscript.
