Africa Fine has published two other novels, Katrina (2001) and Becoming Maren (2003), along with short stories and essays in print and online journals. She holds a bachelor's degree in public policy and African-American studies from Duke University and a master's degree in English literature from Florida Atlantic University. She is an associate professor in South Florida.
