Mildred Riley is a grandmother (of 6) and was a registered nurse for 40 years. She wrote her first, and the industry's first, historical romance with an African American theme. Mildred has written seven titles in all since her first release Yamilla, in 1990. Her real love is tracking down history; she and her husband of 50 years are enjoying the excitement of her new writing career. “Writing has made our retirement quite lively. We meet new people and lots of writers. We visit bookstores and research at fascinating little museums and libraries. He is quite helpful in the search for documentation,” she says.
